We’re a second-generation family owned and operated tourism accommodation and we’re proud of it! Rocky Brook Acres (formerly Rocky Brook Cabins) was established in 1978 by Jean Burton, Roseann’s mother and one of the Cormack War Brides.

Andy Brake
Andy’s friendly voice is the one you’ll most likely hear when you call to make a reservation at Rocky Brook Acres.
He spent over 30 years running a successful video rental and distribution business across the island of Newfoundland and a video rental and convenience store in Deer Lake. He also managed several successful Junior and Senior Hockey Teams, leading each to win Provincial Status. Andy’s time on the road in business and hockey took him to nearly every nook and cranny of the island. His favorite part of his time on the road was meeting and chatting with people – something he sill loves to do as an integral part of the daily operations of Rocky Brook Acres.

Roseann Brake
Roseann has worked in hospitality and tourism for pretty much her whole life.
As a second-generation owner of Rocky Brook Acres, she grew up working alongside her mother and gained her love and appreciation for the tourism industry. After high school Roseann left Cormack to pursue her studies in Hospitality Management and Accounting at College of the North Atlantic. In 1993 she began her career with the Intercontinental Hotels Group and opened two hotel properties. She still holds a management role with the Intercontinental and also runs Rocky Brook Acres with her husband Andy. Working for a major hotel brand instilled attention to high standards, but it was her mother and mentor who taught her the true meaning of hospitality.

Directions from Deer Lake
(Trans Canada Highway – Route #1)
- Take Exit 16 – drive North on Route 430 (8-10 minutes)
- Pass the Esso Gas Station (on left side) as you approach a hill
- On the right side, you’ll see the turn-off for the community of Cormack
- We’re located on the main road in Cormack (90 Veterans Drive)
- Continue for 2.5 km and you’ll find us on the right – look for the red buildings
